If a man wouldn't have gotten
obsessed about Donna Bice, as
her father's will called Beatrice,
no one in the last seven hundred
years would have remembered
her. Yet, what people have
remembered has been Dante's
vision of her, making her life,
its short years and the immortal
fame, all about a man she barely
knew. So do men steal women's
lives and make them a mirror
to gaze at their own.
