Remembering Daniil Kharms(1905-1942)

Even the funny people

get killed and often

they are the first to go

before the executioners.

Perhaps it's a kind of joke,
by the rulers with cruel hearts,
by the Fate ruling over that
blood-drenched moment in time.

Or perhaps it's just
humanity thinking
that no laughs
belong among tears.
