Falling asleep aroused, awakening
aroused, hard, with fading recollections
of a dream, which to visions that haunt
the hours gave flesh and fulfillment,
that now leaves the mind, vanishing,
except as haunting visions, that
cajole and call to follow them
back to dream that grants what
the day's harsh light denies.
