After so much unrelenting death,
some hope among the ruins
on the faces of the liberated
and the survivors welcoming
them. But you are not here,
Saleh, after the two years you lived
when they wanted you dead,
now, on this day of limited hope,
you are resting in your freshly
dug grave; the Sunday morning
had you waiting for the liberation
of your stolen brother, and this
Monday evening has you as one
of the hundred thousand dead.
