GONE IS THE WEAVER, SILENT IS THE BARD

To Ursula K. Le Guin(1929-2018)

Gone is the weaver, but the
tapestry still stands before our eyes.
The voice of the bard is silent,
but the words still echo in our ears.
The last page of the last book is open,
but we have time to go back
to the beginning; our
evening is not yet here. It's
afternoon, the shadows
are only growing, slowly.
We have time
before the last light of the evening
gives way to the starry night,
before the sleep comes,
heavy and deep and
without an end.
