Having to choose
between Adorno
and Celan I
chose Celan.
Atrocities are
dark ground
for poems
to grow,
but poetry
has always had
death as a key
subject,
and genocides
consist of
individual murders,
individual murderers,
individual loves
ending in mass graves.
Silence is not the answer.
Poetry must speak.
