Erecting a tent creates a special place, even if it's on your
own backyard, that's why the Uyghur khagans had one
on the roof of their palace too; there's the world outside
the tent, a wilderness of plains, taiga, tundra or bustling
suburban jungle, and the world created inside the tent.
The khagan in his capital stepped into the ancestral life
in the vast landscapes of his land, lived nomadic inside
his golden tent under the vast sky, and the tent you put
up holds same promise of something simpler, rewarding
if passing, the myriad things filling the rooms reduced
to the essential for these moments' distilled experience,
creating a brief microcosm.
