A myth is what we make of it.
Leda is not bound
to spread her legs for a feathered
Zeus. She can take
a broken tree branch heftier
than anything the god
has between his webbed feet
and beat the divine
out of the avian,
leaving Helen unhatched,
Ilion unburned,
the restless dead heroes
lamenting other woes.
