BETTER THIS WAY

One should not be

thus driven by carnal desires,

hours spend capturing

in words what the flesh would do,

perhaps;

one might say

the mind should be above

such things, surveying

with cold detachment

such feelings and discarding,

yet the human mind

is not just a rider atop the flesh,

gazing serenely from platonic

heights, 

              but often merely along

for our wild gallop

                                after another flesh,

those moments that briefly

reignite the waning light,

make us more than thoughts

binding flesh and minds

and bodies.
