People being trapped in a cave in Laos
are bigger news in Finland and in the Western world
than any wars except the one in Ukraine
(all other wars have as victims people
with the wrong pigment or wrong religion
or their killer is Israel) -
or the human rights situation in Laos.
Those missing in cave get more attention
than rural activist Sombath Somphone, missing
for 13 years, 5 months and 15 days, has gotten
since he was last seen, at a police checkpoint
in capital Vientiane, and no brave rescuers
have penetrated the cave of official silence
in which Sombath Somphone disappeared.
