ON THE THREE HUNDREDTH AND EIGHT DAY OF THE YEAR

105 years since the end of the Great War,
105 years since guns fell silent and people
had wild sex with strangers from sheer joy
of having survived the end of their world,

and now murderous politicians and journalists
are upset that people want to march calling
for a ceasefire to end an ongoing genocide.

What would you think of this,
Graves, Gurney, Owen, Rosenberg,
Sassoon and Sorley?

(I know what you would think,
in your bucolic grave, Brooke,
but if you would have lived
until meeting a bullet
in Gallipoli...)
