A god in the form of a swan,
a swan touched by the divine -
why not? Women say
they choose facing a bear
before a strange man
and are wise in this,
for men are the true beasts,
the self-pitying wolves who see
smiling shepherds in the mirror
while the lambs cower in fear,
and who has ever heard
of a swan killing anyone?
