When Suharto's regime fell in Indonesia,
the indigenous Dayak in Borneo
attacked the Madurese
colonialists Suharto had settled there
killing several thousand of people
(numbers contested),
decapitating hundreds of people,
and the 'Western' media and the politicians
who would be so aghast and angry
about non-existent decapitated Israeli colonialists
quarter of a century later,
they were not bothered at all,
and the decapitated heads
of the Madurese colonialists
were shown in the media
mainly as a fascinating story
about modern headhunting.
Why doesn't the world show more
solidarity? asked an American rabbi
after October 7th 2023
and I wonder whether he had
seen decapitated heads of the Madurese
in the news quarter of a century earlier,
and if he had, what had been his reaction?
Had he declared solidarity with the Madurese?
Changed the channel and turned the page?
Or was he blissfully unaware that it ever happened?
Just like he appeared blissfully unaware
of the Palestinian suffering under the occupation and siege.
