BLACK COFFEE

I should have gone to the store

today, but slept and missed the bus,

so just black coffee, without milk,

in the mug beside the laptop,

 and now outside the landscape

succumbs to the night's cold brew,

and as I drank the last of mine

I notice it's as cold as that

poured outside the window glass.
