The world today is made
of mistakes and corrections,
revolutions and counter-revolutions,
counter-counter-revolutions,
plots and counter-plots
by people not half as smart
as they let their sycophants
to proclaim, and of desperate
gambles by the actually smart,
good hands played badly
and too late. It's simply a mess
of our making and we have
to clean it up and make
something decent and lasting
out of it, an imperfect utopia
for the ages - or perish.
