Israel killed 106 occupied Palestinians yesterday -
how many today? Since early morning
I haven't read the news, have slept
and read and now writing, like
that would keep away deaths,
watching the thin sliver of clear sky
in the horizon after overcast hours,
listening to the howling of dogs
silencing the songs of birds,
holding a cup of hot coffee,
air cold enough for vapour
to rise from it, like observing
all these mundane things
that make up life at this moment
would keep away the erasure of human lives.
