all of them, but you thought
there would be time, later,
when you would have solved
the twisted knots of your
own life, but you never did,
and they died, and here you
are, still hacking at that knot
with your rusted sword,
no Alexander you who so long
have stood at the gates of Asia
and will never proceed.
