Green river flowing
raindrop circles on its surface
beside lush green trees,
the mind multiplies
and calls a forest,
imagination crafting
a landscape from this
short stretch of a river
flowing on a rainy day
one hundred and fifty
years ago.
You resist the impulse
to look at a map -
let it run, this river
from the past,
through your imagination.
