DRINKING CLEAR SPRING WATER

Stumbling with Rilke over the midnight

line, a few minor poems haphazardly

translated with dictionaries, but I needed

to get the taste of Dobson and Santayana

out of my mind, to drink a few gulps

of clear spring water.
