THE VERY SAME PEOPLE

Supporters of Israel's regime, foreign Christians

and Israeli Jews, mock Muslim Palestinians

asking "If Allah is so great, why isn't he

helping you? Why is Israel winning?"

and I can't but think of Jewish victims

at destruction and concentration camps,

Jesus Christ and apostle Peter crucified,

Roman soldiers and Nazi soldiers

mocking them and their fath,

asking why didn't their god help?

And perhaps it were these very same

people standing armed under the crosses,

guarding the gates and crematoriums

of the camps, who mocked then

and are mocking now?

Who can say?
