ONE DAY

One day

all you will be

are the forests, the rivers, the mountains,

the water rushing from glaciers to lakes and the seas,

the fertile earth below and the

sky above,

the air and the life it gives.

The green grass, the

worms in the soil, the first

flowers of spring

and the last green leaves

among red and gold on autumn.

One day

all you will be

is the marrow in the bones

and the iron in the blood

of all that lives

and grows and dies.
