is cold,

the thoughts

have ceased,

and all the years

are ash and dust,

and the bell

is tolling not

only for the

devoured dead,

it chimes too

for the coming

death of the

crowned head,

as mortality

dawns in red

dusk, shedding

the outer skin

between privilege

of a century,

and the waiting,

hungering void.
