In the vast emptiness that dim point
of light encompasses everything
we hold dear; in that feeble sparkle
exists sum of all we capture from
the void and then give back, the people
we call our beloved ones, the years
of our lives spent intertwined, their
graves that lie cold under moonlight,
and all the millions of years we
spent going from trees to savannahs
and caves to this, to gaze at Earth
to see ourselves but a glimmer of dust.
