in the Indian Ocean
in the last decade
in dozens of shipwrecks,
in deliberate mass murder
by coast guards and navies
leaving boats adrift
after sabotaging engines,
more drowned
than killed
in some of the wars
fought in the same years,
and it barely registers.
I almost missed the news,
hundreds of deaths
barely newsworthy.
