Words, growing into sentences

liberated us

from the confines of the mere everyday

struggle for survival

in those long gone African days,

so much more could be shared

and our speech, remembered

and repeated,

could reach so far,

farther than our burgeoning imagination

could carry us,

through two million years

in ever-growing sphere of knowledge,

understanding and wonder.
