THE SHROUDED ONES

Mother Life gives her

weary children

to the waiting arms

of her severe sister, Death.

Warm and crying

she brought them to this world,

cold and with stains of tears

in their faces they leave it.

Sister Death has

the compassion of eternity;

she will take ash and dust

and turn them into stars.
