LIKE DEW IN THE MORNING LIGHT

Poetry took a misstep

when the poets stopped

making their poems meaningful

for their audiences,

and began a Gargantuan effort to

make them meaningful

for themselves; they

wrote about themselves

for themselves, and as

the poets' understanding

of their work and self grew,

the audiences went the way

of dew in the morning light.
