Narcissus drowned in volcanic pumice

brought to the surface, resuscitated

to that eternal moment beside the pool,

the image and the man gazing at each other,

serenely, enticed, through two millennia.

A talented hand shall cover the scar

running across the figure,

unblemished beauty restored

to keep the hunter enraptured

with his own naked form.
