TWEETING THE GENOCIDE

I eat black bread with coffee

at midnight and tweet about

people who haven't eaten

for days, children who starve

to death. I know how it

feels to be hungry, to

have not eaten for days.

But that was a choice.

Now millions are starved

because their oppressors

want to punish them

for their fighters daring

to attack their enslavers,

the lords of Apartheid

in their military bases

and their segregated

plantations, their city

built on the ruins

of an ethnically

cleansed village.

People are starved

because freedom

and liberty are only

for the oppressors,

for those who can

carry out a genocide.
