If only Makilon Tabuni,
aged twelve,
would have been beaten to death
by Russian soldiers
in Ukraine...
Then his young life,
and his terrible death,
would have mattered -
but, alas,
he was beaten to death
by Indonesian soldiers
in West Papua,
where the war and occupation
has gone on for only 59 years,
instead of a week,
and only hundreds of thousands
have died at the hands of occupiers,
instead of a thousand.
