Machado praised as a genius and a poet
the unknown who came up with tying
a donkey to a water-wheel, and hid
the world from it through blinders; this
to Machado was divine inspiration -
not the raising of the water, but
the blinders. Tormenting an another
being was to teach oneself, to Antonio.
No wonder he went on to support
Fascists and their war that would
kill a million human beings.
