Being a conservative brings
you popular laurels; refusing
to move on, leave a trail
where none existed, this
from the beginning to
the too fertile end
is much applauded.
But that's where it ends;
too often walked paths,
no matter how pure
and strident your steps,
bring no laurels
from Stockholm.
