ON EZRA POUND

Oh, I do enjoy the poems of Pound,

but don't think that I would have

mourned learning he would have

faced the fusillade for his Fascism.

For I am one of those who

justify the execution of Brasillach.

Instead, first reading of him caged

in Pisa, so long ago for both

of us, I remember satisfaction;

they should have never set him free.
