Translating via English, so
taking the inferior path
of translating translators,
poems of Saleem al-Naffar,
killed with his entire family
by the Israeli occupation
at their home in Gaza,
because he was a poet
fighting with words,
and so few poets,
so few poets,
are fighting for him,
his family, with their words
here in the Occident, where his
killers carry the 'right' ethnic-religious
labels to be thought as the victims,
and he and his family, his oppressed
nation, obstacles guilty of their
own fate by not giving up
their patrimony.
