The 'West' must do more about Belarus,
writes a liberal British newspaper
in its editorial, and as one who have
hoped for Lukashenko's fall
for thirty years and more,
I agree; but I'm also reminded
how there are wide sanctions
against Belarus from the 'West',
from international cultural
and sports organizations, when
the dictator has killed a dozen
people or so in those thirty years
and a more, in grisly fashion
some, disappeared and found
beheaded, quarter of a century
of impunity for decapitation,
yet 47 283 people are officially
been killed in Gaza and 870
in East Jerusalem and rest
of the West Bank of Palestine
by Israeli occupation in the last
16 months, and no sanctions,
but deference and defence,
excuses and apologies,
from the 'West'. High
moral ground the 'West'
claimed to inhabit
is turned into a pit mine,
and every Lukashenko
in the world is safer on
their throne after those
48 153 official deaths,
a tip of the mound
of the innocent slain.
