Suddenly light floods
the landscape of morning,
the foliage of clouds having withered;
the gray autumn turns into a golden
summer under a pale blue sky,
and the elms and the alders and the oak,
young as I'm old, shine in their green.
But the tall old birch, like me,
still lives in its fall
amidst the resurgent summer.
