Suddenly, after re-heating yesterday's old rice
with meatballs in sauce and having eaten them
drinking cups of black coffee, it hits me:
The blood test this morning.
I hadn't forgotten it,
but somehow I had forgotten that
I could just drink a cup of water
with my meds and avoid
everything else.
How many times
I have done these tests?
Two times in the last two months alone;
I should know, and I did, but something
had happened, disconnected the connections
between these bits of information
I was holding in my mind.
I know what it is.
Age gnawing my brain
like a rat gnaws cables.
