ON THE TWO HUNDREDTH AND EIGHTY-SECOND DAY OF THE YEAR

There is the ebb and flow

of the barbarians,

the foam on the waves

crashing on the sharp rocks

of eternally eroding history,

while the sea remains, deep

and on its silent floor,

the bones rest and give life.
