MY HEART DOES A LEAP

This, I have to say (and knock the wood

I must) has been a good day so far,

a very good day, for me.

And knock the wood I do,

and let the heart do a leap

contained within the chest.

While in Burma, DR Congo, Lebanon, Kashmir,

Palestine, New Caledonia, Sudan, Syria,

Tibet, Ukraine, Western Sahara, West Papua

and so forth, people suffer

and die, entire families are slaughtered,

others live under foreign fist,

while I enjoy my very good day,

while my heart does its leap

contained within the chest.
