The late summer waters
dark waves wind-driven
from shore to shore,
human voices
talking lost words
in the far distance
fade even before I dive
into the dark waters,
feel the brisk cold,
briefly,
that fades like
the world beyond
the dark waters
except her image
burning in my thoughts.
