KEATS COULD WAIT

I was going to translate

a second sonnet

by Keats yesterday,

but after having posted

the first one

on Instagram

I saw the news,

saw Mariam Abu Daqqa

declared dead

in Israel's occupation forces' attack

at Nasser Hospital,

and then followed the names

of the rest, all known to me,

Hossam al-Masri,

Mohammad Salama,

Muath Abu Toha,

Ahmed Abu Aziz,

and later, in a new attack,

Hassan Douhan.

Keats could wait,

long dead. The newly

dead, the murdered

whose names

must be engraved

deep in consciences

couldn't. They had

to be heard.
