LEAVING FOR A LATE EVENING SWIM

I have waited out the rain

and the thunder. Silenced

air and clouds departing

are my message to leave,

dim as the evening is;

I will go and take the road,

walk to the waters calm

by now, calm and dark

and warm, and briefly merge

myself in their waning peace.
