POSTCARD PERFECT EVENING IN AUGUST

After rain,
after distant thunder,

postcard perfect evening,

landscape bathing in sunlight

still past eight,

and even when it's coldest

evening since June,

I think of going

to the beach and swimming

in the chill waters of the evening.
