HE PONDERS LINGUISTIC DIFFERENCES

Nobody compared it to a furry feline
there; no, it was like dewy moss,
cluster of grass or a nest in his
language. Never a purring, furry
feline. Linguistic, cultural differences.
Did they prefer passivity in his
country? Just waiting there to be
sunk into, a comforting, enveloping
depth - unlike the active feline
with its sharp teeth and sharp claws,
dangerous, aggressive if provoked,
and facing the rooster, in that other
language. They had a fixation
about animals, those who
spoke it. Animals that could
fight, tear into each other.
Bleed each other, leave wounds.
He preferred the wet mounds
of his language, waiting
the paddle leaving the water.
