CHARLES OLSON(1910-1970) READING HIS POEM 'THE LIBRARIAN' IN MARCH 1966
Out of breath, looking
ten years older than his age
(although back then, as
we might remember,
people looked older than
they do now),
a voice dry, from that mouth
that long ago stopped
moving, breathing, the
mouth that, out of breath,
fires out these hurried sentences
through time, the hand
so vigorously moving
between him and us, in
that long gone night. A
fragment captured and
cast, thrown to fade.
