ON THE EDGE OF SEPARATION

We have been here before, on

this edge beyond which possibilities

emerge from the primal chaos

of our lives and crash like mountains on Io,

in vast turmoil. Beholding

this uncertainty, we draw back

to a safe distance, to each other

one more time, preferring our ragged edges,

this slow drift that drives us apart to

the cataclysm of separation.
