AND THEN YOU LEAVE THE FRONT DOOR OPEN AND THE HOUSE IS FULL OF MOSQUITOES

Of this are life's little joys

made: The washing machine

you think was malfunctioning

working well, and you putting

laundry to dry in the sun, out

on the yard in the afternoon's

great silence, when the birds

and the roads of men

are quiet alike.
