When asked of the most terrible
tyrant in the history of the Occident,
I give my vote for Sulla.
There were many, many dictators
in the Occident that killed more,
but few that created such a terror.
He made a great nation fear so much
that he could give up his tyranny yet
still they cowered and let him live.
