Be still as you are beautiful
Be silent as the rose
Frank MacDonagh(1902-61): Be Still As You Are Beautiful
Men love silence, they take
it as agreement from their
flesh-warm marble statues,
whether on a pedestal, in
the matrimonial bed, or
in the kitchen where
knives speak to the fruit
and vegetables what
the tongue is forbidden
from telling to
the pater familias.
