I have to admit defeat;
just the idea of reaching
to take them off makes
me harden in mind and
otherwise; and here I was
trying to avoid writing
something crude, erasing
one draft after another
in which sentences circle
around far too coyly,
and ending with this lust
of getting to what they hide,
that origin of the world.
